Torco Racing Fuels Chevy Cobalt Among Quickest on Hot, Tricky Track
NORWALK, Ohio, June 30, 2007 -- Dave Connolly's quickest run -- the one that earned a No. 4 starting spot for Sunday's Summit Racing Equipment Nationals at Summit Motorsports Park -- came Friday night in optimum conditions, 6.663 seconds -- but he was most impressive Saturday with two solid qualifying runs on a warmer day with unpredictable track conditions.
With crew chief Tommy Utt dialing in the Torco Racing Fuels/Seelye Wright Automotive Group Cobalt to elapsed times of 6.669 and 6.681 seconds, Connolly was able establish himself as one of the Sunday favorites.
"This is one of the nicest tracks on the circuit." said Connolly, an Elyria, Ohio, native. "It has been phenomenal all weekend. We made two real nice runs to help get us ready for Sunday's eliminations."
Connolly has lane choice over Warren Johnson (No. 13, 6.683 at 206.57) in the first round of competition.
