Schnitz Ninth at Maple Grove
Ryan Schnitz improved to a career best 7.01 elapsed time on the Trim-Tex/Muzzy's Buell, but dropped back in the qualifying order when Craig Treble and Steve Johnson both ran 7 flat. It was the third and ultimately final (due to rain) round of Pro Stock Motorcycle qualifying for the NHRA Toyo Tires Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway in Mohnton, Pennsylvania.
qualifications round 3
"We made an improvement and we're happy," said Schnitz. "We had the fifth or sixth quickest pass that session, and there's definitely room for improvement on that pass. The bike went towards the centerline and I had to correct and lean off a little bit. That scrubbed of some speed and some ET, and there's room for the 60 foot to improve as well.
"So we're excited about tomorrow. We should be able to go some rounds and hopefully end up in the final. The first round's gonna be tough, though, as it is at every event. We've got Craig Treble, and he can cut a great light and he just showed he can run with everybody else.
"We'll wish for the best on the weather. It looks like it's supposed to clear up as the day goes on, so we'll try to get this race in and make everybody back home proud to watch us on TV."
