HERBERT HEADS HOME AFTER FIRST ROUND
Madison, Ill., (May 6, 2007) -- Doug Herbert and the Snap-on Tools Top Fuel dragster will head back to North Carolina sooner than they planned.
After qualifying for the NHRA Midwest Nationals in the No. 16 position, Herbert faced "Hot Rod" Fuller in the first round of eliminations.
Facing an unfriendly right lane, Herbert and the Snap-on Team planned to take the win light and move on to the second round, but the combination of a fast competitor and a parts failure prevented that from happening.
Fuller took the round win with a quick 4.574 seconds at 325.22 mph, the fastest pass of the weekend.
"St. Louis hasn't been good to us," said Herbert. "We qualified, then a parts failure in the driveline caused us to loose.
"Fuller ran really good, though, and beat us. We'll go back to the shop, work and get ready for Bristol. We've won many times in Bristol, and we look forward to going to our home track."
