Makela Seals Snetterton Double

Finland's Valle Makela took his second race win of the day in the UK Formula Ford Championship at Snetterton in Norfolk this afternoon (June 6). Sweden's Sebastian Hohenthal took second place with American Charlie Kimball in third.

"Hohenthal was able to close the gap becasue the tow here is worth so much time," said Makela. "The car worked well all weekend and it's all worked out very well for the championship," said Makela.

Makela was made to work for his double victory as Hohenthal pushed him throughout the 15-lap race. American Kimball was unable to better his sixth place grid position from the start and had to work his way past Yuya Sakamoto for fifth place. He was then gifted fourth when countryman Joe D'Agosino dropped down to 7th on lap eight.

Neil Doran had made the best start, taking fourth place on lap one from eighth place on the grid, before moving up to third when D'Agostino had his problems. Unfortunately, he was unable to hold on to the place and dropped down to sixth before the chequered flag. This allowed Kimball to pick up the final podium place.
