Monza, 14 de julio de 2001 - Franck MONTAGNY, was extremely happy after being the quickest in both Qualifying Sessions held today at the Circuit of Monza.

"The track was a bit slower than yesterday", said Montagny, "but the other drivers are closer now. The car was simply perfect and I hope the Races tomorrow will be pretty good. Belicchi looks the guy to watch up. He is very fast here, but also my team did a good result in Monza, even in wet conditions, with JC Ravier (2000). Most of the drivers have been trying to profit the aspirations, but Dellus, my mate, is a newcomer, and our rithm is a bit different, so I'm happy I did this great lap at the end by myself. We are quick!."

Actually, Montagy was three tenths faster in Qualifying 2, lapping 1.45.372. Belicchi (SITEC) will join the French driver in the first race (14 laps). The Italian suffered some gear box problems when he was in new tyres during the second session and he will start from the fifth position. Tomas Scheckter (Vergani),third, believes that Montagny is the one to keep the pressure: "We had a problem in the car but there are bo excuses. Obviously the Qualifying is kind of important but I will have to concentrate in the Races tomorrow."

Tomas Sheckter and Manuel Giao complete the three top positions in the grid for the second race (21 laps), where the Pit Stop between Laps 5 and 14 is compulsory. Giao has very happy with his performance, although his car had a problem with the fuel pump: "I'm happy to race in Monza because is one of the fastest Circuits of the World, and you can overtake in several points. Maybe this result is the begining of a good period, as we have been struggling with several technical problems.

Maurizio Mediani, former F3 Lotteria GP winner, is replacing Cochet in Venturini Racing. Mediani is happy with the car, "a good balance between engine and chassis, but what impresses me much is the serious organisation. The teams are happy that a Spanish Championship visits their home circuits, as this is the case of Portugal, Monza and next, Magny Cours. SITEC lines-up 25 year-old Team Manager Angelo Ferrazano, happy with his first drive.
