Racing Engineering Spa test

Racing Engineering dominates first collective test after summer break!

It was Racing Engineering's Franck Montagny and Justin Wilson who dominated the first collective test day at Magny Cours. In the morning session Franck was first ahead of Justin. In the afternoon Justin was the fasted followed by Zonta and Garcia. Franck finished the afternoon session in 8th position.

The morning session of the first test day in Magny Cours was dominated by Racing Engineering's drivers. Franck Montagny marked his fastest time in lap 14, which no one could beat anymore (1.27,297). Justin was in second position until shortly before the end Cochet made a faster lap time. Justin, fighting back immediately, came back into second position right after in lap 45 (1.27,297).

The afternoon session of the first test day was characterized by a sever accident of Tuka Rocha, spinning on oil shortly before the finish line. Justin was the fastest in the second session ahead of Zonta and Garcia. Franck finished the second session in 8th position due to testing different set ups of the car.

Both Justin Wilson and Franck Montagny were content with their test day although it was a rather strange feeling for Franck sitting in the Nissan V6 with borrowed gloves and race shoes and the helmet of one of Racing Engineering's mechanics; when flying from Spain to Paris Franck's luggage got lost and could not be sent on time for the test by the airline.
