SNETTERTON, U.K. Competing as guest driver, American Patrick Long dominated Rounds 13 and 14 of the British Porsche Carrera Cup series, taking pole position and winning both races over the historic 1.95-mile Snetterton circuit. Snetterton is fast becoming Long's favorite circuit, as he won there previously in British Formula Renault and British Formula Ford.
Long set the quickest qualifying lap on Friday, 1:09.064 second, 0.19 faster than second place Richard Westerbrook.
In the first race, Westerbook snatched the lead for the first two laps before Long regained first spot on Lap 3. For that point, Long led the final 14 laps, winning by 1.222 seconds over Barry Horne. In the second race, Long led all 22 laps of the longer race, winning by a convincing 6.056 seconds over Richard Maeden. All together, Long led 37 of 39 laps at Snetterton.
Long is a Porsche factory driver on the UPS-Porsche Junior team in the German Carrera Cup. He is currently fifth in the Carrera Cup championship, most recently winning from pole position at the Norisring circuit. The next German Carrera Cup will be held at the Nurburgring on August 16th. As a member of the UPS Porsche Junior team, Long is also competing in select Porsche Michelin Supercup events.
