Danville, VA. (May 16, 2006) -- MB Racing opened their season in impressive fashion by finishing two races in the Top-15 at VIRginia International Raceway as the North Carolina Region of the Sports Car Club of America hosted the Al Fairer SARRC/MARRS Challenge. "Steven Groh ran our fastest lap to date at VIR and finished 13th in the MARRS series points in his race on Saturday," said Matt Brown, Team Principal.

In the second race for the team on Sunday, Brown took the checkered flag finishing 14th place in class. After starting 34th overall, he raced quickly forward to finish 23rd in the field of 54, moving up 11 places in the ten-lap sprint race event.

The Al Fairer SARRC/MARRS Challenge, named for a beloved longtime NC Region member and official who died on May 5, 2004, has been an established fixture on east coast SCCA racers' schedules since VIR reopened in 2000. It draws a huge field every year, as racers are attracted to the challenging and technical 3.27-mile circuit, the beautiful scenery and the perfect weather

"We are excited that we could open our season so successfully returning to VIR to run in the Al Fairer SARRC/MARRS Challenge," said Brown. "This is one of our favorite circuits; we enjoy the beautiful facilities here at VIR and we look forward to returning here two more times in 2006. Now we just need to keep up the momentum going to Mid-Ohio."
