MCT heads to Assen with Superleague

The grandstands at Assen will this weekend (15-16 May) echo to the striking sound of Menard Competition Technologies' (MCT) V12 engines, as the Superleague Formula championship moves to Holland for the second round of the 2010 season. The opening round at Silverstone in April saw the first competitive running of the V12s in 2010, with the 17 MCT V12s covering a combined distance of 8,337 kilometres during the weekend.

Although a little damp due to the mixed weather conditions, the Easter weekend event at Silverstone delivered some superb racing and a home win for Tottenham Hotspur. The Superleague Formula has continued to grow in stature over the last two years and now includes four ex-Formula One drivers including Sebastien Bourdais, Franck Montagny, Robert Doornbos, Narain Karthikeyan

Kevin Lee, MCT's managing director, commented: "Our 2010 Superleague Formula season has got off to a great start. The mixed conditions at Silverstone did little to dampen the racing and all of the 17 MCT V12s ran well all weekend."

"The next two rounds of the championship are back to back races with the Magny-Cours event taking place over the weekend of 22-23 May, which will put a little pressure on the teams in terms of logistics. The MCT support team will be on hand to provide technical support to the teams throughout the two meetings."

This weekend's visit to Assen is the first time that the Superleague Formula has visited the circuit within its championship calendar. The 4.55kms track offers a mix of challenging corners to test both a car's engine and chassis, with the long main straight sure to be the driver's favourite choice to take advantage of the MCT V12's push to pass function.
