Rain stops Big Diamond Raceway action n Friday Night, June 14

Minersville, PA June 14 Heavy rain hit Big Diamond Raceway on Thursday and Friday forcing the racing card scheduled to get underway at 8 o'clock to be canceled.

The KARS 358 Sprints join the NASCAR Sportsman and Roadrunners in a special Father's Day Sunday evening show (June 16) at Big Diamond starting at 6:30 PM. The NASCAR Modifieds next will join the Sportsman and Roadrunners on Friday, June 21, for Kreiser Fuels Night hoping the weather will be more favorable.

The Doorways Unlimited KARS 358-Sprint Series is conducting its 14th season of racing in 2002, continuing a tradition of competitive sprint car racing that began in 1989. Over the years, the KARS Series has entertained race fans at tracks in six states. Sunday is the first of two 2002 appearances of the KARS 358 Sprint at Big Diamond.

Among the drivers who plan to compete at Big Diamond are Jake Raudabaugh, Dale Hammaker, Rusty Pressley, Keith Wetzel, Keith Prutzman, Rich Carnathan, Jamie Schwartz, Dan Shadle, Chad Layton and Bob Beidleman with both KARS member and non-member drivers seeing action. Raudabaugh is the current points leader, winning the series' season opener at Hagerstown Speedway and has some past experience at Big Diamond Raceway in the super sportsman class.

The KARS 358 Sprint drivers will draw for starting position for their racing events while the Sportsman and Roadrunners will be handicapped as they are for all point races at this point in the season.
