Northern Sprint Tour Loses Entire Weekend To Weather
For the first time in the history of the Northern Sprint Tour, the series lost an entire weekend set of three races due to rain. On Friday morning, May 26th, the events scheduled for that evening at Willamette Speedway in Lebanon, Oregon and for Sunday, May 28th at Cottage Grove Speedway in Cottage Grove, Oregon were both canceled. The western portion of the state had been bombarded by heavy rainfall all week and the same was in the forecast for the rest of the weekend.
The race slated for Saturday, May 27th at Medford, Oregon's Southern Oregon Speedway remained a possibility until mid-afternoon on Friday. This was also the first time that multiple events for the NST had been canceled in one day. As per usual with the series, no rain dates are scheduled.
To this point in the 2006 season only one race of the scheduled five has been run. That was the season opening event at Willamette Speedway. The series now takes a month off before the big trip east to Great Falls, Montana to visit Electric City Speedway on Friday and Saturday, June 23rd and 24th.
