ALL STAR SPRINT RESULTS - Fri. 7/7/95 13th Annual Ohio Outlaw Sprint Speedweek 1995 Limaland Speedway, Lima, OH By Scott Hall

ALLENTOWN, OH - Kelly Kinser recorded his second career Ohio Speedweek win before the largest crowd in the history of Limaland Speedway Friday night in round six of the Club All Star Ohio Sprint Speedweek. The victory was worth $5,000, and was Kinser's firstAll Star win of the season. "We've been struggling lately. We needed this real bad," Kinser said. He then explained his strategy, "I like these little slick tracks. I just get hooked up and that's how I like the feel of acar. When I went to the bottom and got by Todd, I just stayed there." Kinser's Crone LumberStealth operates under Gaerte power, and rode McCreary tires to victory lane.

Mark Keegan started ninth and ended up in the runnerup spot, making a late race chargethe last three laps to take over second from Todd Kane."This is the same car we tore up at Millstream, I worked two solid daysgetting it backtogether," Keegan said, standing beside his Lenny Ferguson J&J. "We must havedone apretty good job because it felt pretty right."Kane ended up third, ahead of Kenny Jacobs and Keith Kauffman. Joey Saldana took the lead from the pole, but brought out the first caution on lap one whenhe brushed the wall and got a flat right rear and stopped on the speedway. This put CharlieFisher into the lead on the restart, with Kane second and Kinser third. Fisher got sideways in turn one on the restart, allowing outside pole man Kane to take the lead. Fourth starting Kinser moved into second, with Fisher falling to third. Kauffman pushed his way under Fisher for third by lap six, and he began to close on Kinser. On lap eight, Kane, the leader, brushed the backstretch wall as he was running the high groove, while Kinser found the bottom of the quarter mile to his liking. With a dozen laps in the books, Kinser was all over Kane, and he scooted under Kane's Junior Holbrook Schnee to lead lap 13. Kauffman still held third in the Jim Wahlie Maxim, with Fisher fourth and Brooke Tatnell fifth. Kauffman closed on Kane in traffic, but was never able to mount a serious challenge for second.

As Kinser stretched his lead on the bottom, Kane also moved down with Keegan the only driver able to utilize what was left of the top groove. On lap 27, Fisher lost it and spun out of fourth, bumping the turn one wall and stopping on the track to slow the action. The restart order was now Kinser, Kane, Kauffman, Kenny Jacobs and Keegan. Kane stayed close to Kinser when the green flew, and Keegan used bold outside moves to get around Jacobs, then Kauffman, and finally outrun Kane on the white flag lap for second. "I just got a little loose at the end. I wasn't sure where to go, so I just came down low," Kane recalled. "About halfway through I really began spinning, maybe because I ran the top at the beginning." Kane was the first car across the stripe on Goodyears. Jacobs ended up fourth, with Kauffman fifth. Gary Wright came up from 11th to sixth, with All Star points leader Dale Blaney moving from 19th seventh. Saldana recovered from his wall banging incident to finish eighth with Danny Smith ninth and Chad Kemenah tenth.

Kinser set fast time over the 47 car field and won the Commercial Truck & Trailer dash. Fred Rahmer won the ButlerBuilt heat, Steve Kent took the United Expresslines heat and Blaney and Gary Wright were the other heat winners. Jimmy Stinson won the Arizona Sport Shirts C Main with the Outerwears Pre-Filters B Main to Dwain Leiber. Dave Dickerson won the stock car feature.
