A huge crowd watched Tony Jones led this one green to checkered despite pulling off all his tearoffs early in the race. Jones made some sensational moves in traffic to put lapped cars between himself and Richard Griffin. John Scott was running third when engine problems forced him to the sidelines. Fast qualifier Rip Williams took third with his teammate, Mike English, getting his second straight top five finish at The PAS. Steve Ostling took fifth with Bobby Cody posting a career best sixth.

Rookie Randy Waitman had a very hard flip heading into turn one in qualifying. Waitman was conscious and moving in the car, but was taken to the hospital for observation.

VRA Sprint Cars will be making their first ever appearance at The PAS next Saturday night (August 3rd). With 34 of them showing up for practice at The PAS last Tuesday night, a field between 50-60 cars may well show up for next week's race.
