358 Sprint Car & Late Model Payoffs Increased
SELINSGROVE, Pa. -- Selinsgrove Speedway officials released the tentative 2006 schedule of events that includes 33 race dates at the historic Snyder County dirt track.
Weekly four division shows will feature the Cindy Rowe Auto Glass 358 sprint cars, MAPCO Machine Shop late models, Salem RV Center/Keller's Auto Body pro stocks and roadrunners.
Promoter Charlie Paige announced that the prize money for all 24 starting positions in the weekly 358 sprint car and late model main events has been increased. The winner of each sprint car and late model main event this season will collect $1,200 and each starter will be guaranteed $175.
The season will begin at 8 p.m. Fri., March 17, with the first of seven 410 sprint car races this season. The 410 sprint cars will also compete on Fri., March 24; Sun., May 28; Sun., June 11 (National Sprint Tour); Sun., July 2 (PA Speedweek); Sat., Aug. 5 (National Sprint Tour); and Sat., Sept. 16 (National Open).
The 358 sprint cars will take the spotlight in several special events, including the May 27 URC/358 Sprint Car Gunn Memorial Challenge Race; June 17 Whitcomb Memorial; June 24 Firecracker 40; and Aug. 19 Summer Nationals.
The late models will be featured in the April 22 Spring Championship; July 1 Late Model Open; and Sept. 3 Paul Long Memorial.
"Pack the Track," offering free general admission to a four division racing program, will be held May 6.
Other special events this season include the May 13 Pro Stock 20; July 8 Legends Night (Williams Grove Oldtimers); July 22 United Racing Club sprint race; and July 29 Kids Night and York County Racing Club Night.
Full schedules will be available at the following pre-season trade shows: Motorsports 2006 at the Fort Washington Expo Center in Ambler (Jan. 13-15); the York Dirt Trackin' Show at the York County Fairgrounds (Jan. 27-19); and the Annual Motorsports Show at the Susquehanna Valley Mall in Hummel Wharf (Feb. 19-25).
Season reserved seats and advance tickets for the June 11 and Aug. 5 National Sprint Tour (NST) events will go on sale beginning Feb. 20.
