DRISSI FAST IN FINAL TRANS-AM PRACTICE AS RAIN INVADES EDMONTON
EDMONTON, Alberta (July 16, 2005) -- Tomy Drissi set the fastest time in Saturday's Trans-Am morning warm-up for this afternoon's Festival City 100 at Finning International Speedway. Drissi (No. 5 Supercross -- The Movie Jaguar XKR) turned a 1:55.089-minute lap (61.716 miles per hour) as heavy rain flooded the 1.973-mile temporary airport circuit.
Calgary native Hima Maher (No. 78 Centenniel Motorsports of Calgary Chevrolet Corvette), Klaus Graf (No. 7 Jaguar R Performance XKR), Randy Ruhlman (No. 49 Preformed Line Products Canada Chevrolet Corvette), and GTA driver Roy Isley (No. 46 Canadian Western Aggregate Chevrolet Monte Carlo) also braved the deluge, and completed the top five.
The Festival City 100, Round 5 of the 2005 Trans-Am Championship and part of the West Edmonton Mall Grand Prix of Edmonton weekend, is scheduled for this afternoon at 4:45 p.m. MDT. Today's race will air on a tape-delayed basis, Sunday, July 24 at 1 p.m. EDT on SPEED Channel.
