KELSO WINS TRANS-AM GTA AT ROAD AMERICA; BARBER CLINCHES TITLE
ELKHART LAKE, Wis. (Aug. 21, 2005) -- Steve Kelso won Sunday's GTA portion of the Rumble at the Road Trans-Am Series race at Road America. Kelso (No. 9 Ringers Resources/Red Line Oil Chevrolet Monte Carlo) finished 13th overall in the event. Although he dropped out early with a mechanical problem, Tim Barber (No. 97 Riverside Motorsports Park Ford Taurus) clinched the GTA Championship.
"We had a great run this weekend," said Kelso, who also won the GTA pole on Saturday. "All the GTA guys fell out, and we benefited from it. Tim (Barber) had something for me early on, and then he fell out. We're happy to take the win, any way we can get it.
"I can speak on behalf of all the GTA guys that we have really had a great time with Trans-Am this year," added Keslo. "We love running with Trans-Am. We would love to stay and make a home for ourselves. I've enjoyed the season very much."
