WHAT IS THE SPCALA LOGO DOING ON A RACE CAR? SPREADING AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE AT 160 MPH! As Michael Lewis prepared for the 1999 BFGoodrich Tires Trans-Am Series, his #12 AmeriSuites Mustang race team did a number of things differently. They tested more than ever before. They added new crew members. They picked up several new sponsors. AND, they decided to carry a message for the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Los Angeles (spcaLA) for the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. That message is in the form of a bumper sticker to report animal cruelty, as well as signage on the side of the car. "I love animals. So when people started thinking about what charity we wanted to donate advertising space to, spcaLA came up as a great organization to benefit by being seen by a quarter of a million people at the Long Beach Grand Prix," said Michael Lewis. His teammate Tomy Drissi (car #15, Drissi Advertising Mustang) is also running the spcaLA logo and bumper sticker on his car. spcaLA President Madeline Bernstein is happy with the high-speed billboard advertising the spcaLA cruelty tipline. "We welcome new and creative ways of bringing awareness to the community and the work we do. Plus, many of us are race fans too!"
