Joey Scarallo Seventh in Morning Warm-up
TORONTO, Ontario (July 10, 2004) -- Joey Scarallo, driver of the No. 06 ROH Wheels/Group A Autotrend/Toyo Tires Chevrolet Corvette in the Motorock Trans-Am Series, was seventh fastest in today's final practice session at the Trans-Am in T.O. Scarallo recorded a 1:14.174-minute lap (85.178 miles per hour) in the 30-minute session. He finished just ahead of teammate John Baucom, driver of the No. 86 Ford Mustang.
"We've been chasing the car's setup all weekend," said Scarallo. "This is a function of not having had the time or resources to perform the needed testing. We performed a gear change last night and had a minor problem with the clutch, but we are still working to better the car for this afternoon's race.
"Baucom Motorsports has been working hard this weekend," said Scarallo, who teamed with Baucom Motorsports this year. The Baucom squad is preparing Scarallo's car for the 2004 season.
"It is a very tight track. We have the best eight cars in the country and it's hard with an 11-car field, but we are moving up and closing the gap," said Scarallo. "We are going to finish much better in today's race than we have in practice sessions. That, I promise."
