TWIN CITIES HOSTS USAC MIDGETS JULY 14; SANTOS LEADS ALL 50 TO WIN AT TOLEDO
The USAC Mopar National Midget Series is idle until July 14 when they return to Twin Cities Raceway Park in North Vernon, where rain forced postponement of a June 11 race. It marks the first appearance of USAC's Midgets at North Vernon since Jay Drake's victory in 2000.
Brad Kuhn of Avon, Ind. continues to lead the standings, 20 points ahead of two-time series champion Jerry Coons Jr. after Saturday nights' race at Toledo (Ohio) Speedway, which was won by Bobby Santos III. Coons finished third and Kuhn seventh in the 50-lap Toledo feature.
Santos, of Franklin, Mass., turned from hot to red hot Friday, leading all 50 laps of the "Hemelgarn Racing Super Fitness Night" USAC Mopar National Midget race at Toledo. Santos has now won four USAC features in two weeks! He and his Santos Motor Sports Beast/Esslinger Ford were trailed by Brad Sweet, Coons, Bobby East and Tracy Hines. Sweet was the night's fastest qualifier.
