USAC racing returns to the Evergreen State for the first time in 17 years Wednesday night when the Western Sprint Cars invade the Wenatchee Valley Super Oval in East Wenatchee, Wash.
A 40-lap feature event is planned on the 1/4-mile paved oval following complete preliminaries.
Michael Lewis of Noblesville, Ind. currently leads the Western Sprint Car standings entering the East Wenatchee race, 82 points ahead of 1998 series champion Jeff Gardner and 88 points in front of 2001 series champion Tony Hunt.
Mike Bliss of Milwaukie, Wash., currently competing in NASCAR racing as a graduate of USAC competition, won USAC's last sanctioned event in Washington, a Supermodified race at Ephrata Raceway Park in 1986.
Also expected to be among competitors in Wednesday night's race is the only lady driver to score a feature victory in the Western Sprint Car Series, Shauna Hogg of Roseville, Calif. She triumphed at Madera, Calif. June 19 in a race which included NASCAR Winston Cup Champion and former USAC Triple Crown Champ Tony Stewart as a participant!
