Weekend of progression leads to frustration for Karavan Dollansky

The Karavan Dollansky team tackled the Eagle Raceway in Eagle, Nebraska, this weekend by carting home a car that had been ready to run up front. After preliminary night was moved to Saturday, June 19, because of inclement weather on Friday, Craig Dollansky, driver of the # 7 VMAC Maxim, survived in an ill-handling car to finish tenth.

The finale of the Eagle Nationals was moved to Sunday with the starting time moved up to get racing action wrapped up early on the overcast and dreary day. Dollansky came out to qualify sixth and nailed down a lap of 11.978 that held up for second. The Karavan Dollansky crew worked on the setup throughout the evening as Dollansky went out to finish heat and dash races. The work paid off as Dollansky successfully passed during the first two starts of the A Main feature. Unfortunately, those starts did not hold up due to the attrition that followed on the slick, one-lane racetrack. Coming into turn 3 on the third restart of the race, Dollansky was collected after the 14 of Jason Meyers made contact and spun the 11H of Paul McMahan. Dollansky proceeded to go end over end and was t-boned by the 60 of Colin Northway on the way down. Three drivers, including Dollansky, were retired in the melee that affected seven drivers.

Next up for the Karavan Dollansky squad is the 3/8-mile oval of Dodge City. Under the management of Mike Mathis, Dodge City recently removed the asphalt surface and replaced it with clay. The June 22 date is the World of Outlaws Sprint Series' only appearance in Kansas in 2004.
