Barrier unlucky

Because of a multiple crash just after the start, in which Sylvain Barrier was involved with many riders, the French rider had to retire of the Monza event.

At the first chicane a multiple crash eliminated many of the good riders of the championship, like Claudio Corti (Yamaha Motor Italia Junior Team), Michele Pirro (Yamaha Lorenzini by Leoni), Davide Giugliano (Suzuki) and Maxime Berger (Honda). Belgian Xavier Simeon (Suzuki) was lucky not to be involved in this disaster and he won the race, leading now the FIM Cup.

Sylvain Barrier: "I had a good start and I was in the top 12. Then somebody ran into me from behind, and I was hit on the left side and pushed to the right. Many riders fell. Two of my fingers and one arm are a little injured, but nothing is broken."

Martial Garcia (team-manager): "Sylvain was not lucky as he had to retire, and he could not score any useful points for the championship. He is not badly injured and he should be able to well at the next race."
