SEAT Sport set to Czech out the opposition

Following the FIA World Touring Car Championship's two race meetings on the American continent, the series returns to Europe for a pair of races at Brno in the Czech Republic on Sunday, September 3rd. The 5.403km track makes a welcome return to the WTCC -- the last time the circuit hosted a round was in 1987 -- but two of the current SEAT Sport squad have fond memories of Brno. The two FIA European Touring Car Championship races in 2004 saw both pole positions occupied by a SEAT Sport Toledo Cupra, with Rickard Rydell on pole for Race 1 and Jordi Gene just 0.2 second behind his colleague. The team also claimed two podium finishes that weekend and there are high hopes that the Leon will do even better than the Toledo.

SEAT Since the Mexican rounds of the WTCC, five of the six SEAT Sport drivers have been taking time out to enjoy the summer, with Rickard Rydell jetskiing and wakeboarding in Majorca, Jordi Gene heading to the Spanish mountains and Peter Terting attending a round of the DTM at the Nurburgring as mentor to the drivers in the SEAT Leon Supercopa support races. The "odd man out" was the WTCC Drivers' Championship leader James Thompson, who made another guest appearance for SEAT Sport UK at the BTCC races at Snetterton. Three 2nd places for James, together with 2 wins for Jason Plato, meant the team now has a 99 point lead in the series. The summer break came to an end for the six drivers, however, when a two-day test at the Jarama circuit near Madrid saw the team working on suspension set-ups and a number of small developments to the Leon.
