QUALIFYING QUOTES
Augusto FARFUS N.technonogy, pole position
"This is my home track but it is the first time I have raced here so I did my best
because it is important to me to race in front of my family and friends. I did a
great lap in qualifying and it is Alfa Romeo's first pole of the season. Here in
Brazil Alfa Romeo has a lot of fans; it is a highly respected marque. I expect
tomorrow to be a tough race when you look at how close the qualifying was. The
first corner will be important and I hope to manage it from there. The track is
tough on the tyres so it is important to keep some for the second race as well."
Jordi GENÉ - SEAT Sport España, 2nd fastest
"This circuit seems to be good for us. The corners are close to each other and
they are high speed. It looks good. I was only one tenth behind Farfus and of
course, there is always room for improvement. The set-up was not perfect but I
am happy. It is the first time we don't have any BMWs right behind us so our
chances of getting away at the start have increased."
Peter TERTING - SEAT Sport Deutschland, 3rd fastest
"I'm not really happy because on my fastest lap I made a mistake at the last
corner, which was entirely my fault. After that I wanted to change my tyres but
there was only five minutes remaining and then I was stopped at the scrutineers'
bay and so there was no time. In any case, SEAT have done a good job in
qualifying and the car is competitive."
Andy PRIAULX BMW Team UK, 7th fastest
"The track is quite challenging and it is a lot better than I expected. It's got a
combination of massively fast and then medium speed corners. For me,
qualifying 7th is like qualifying on pole when you look at how tight the times are,
consider that I am one of the heaviest car and take into account it is not a
favourable track for BMW."
Fabrizio GIOVANARDI JAS Motorsport, 9th fastest
"I would describe the track as interesting and good to drive. It's bumpy but then
it's not the only track on the WTCC calendar to be like this. Qualifying 9th isn't
bad but considering I was fastest in free practice and it felt easy, it is a little
disappointing. I think we had some problems with the car in qualifying and there
wouldn't have been time to fix it so I had to compensate with my driving but still
couldn't lead the pace. After this morning's session it feels like I had all the toys
and someone took them all away after qualifying."
Tom CORONEL GR Asia, 12th fastest
"It's a shame about having to change the engine. The oil pressure alarm came
on after only two laps of free practice and there was no solution but to change it
and drop 10 positions."
