Pau: Alex Zanardi preview

SOCCMEL... CHE FATICA! (...WHAT A STRUGGLE!)

Yesterday I had a great day. I was at Plan de Corones, at the arrive of the most thrilling chrono stage of the Giro d'Italia (the Italian cycling tour). The twisting route remembered me a lot what I am gonna find at Pau this weekend but, in my case, I will have the luck to have an engine!

I confess to you that, in person, the slope cyclists had to face was really impressive. From today on, whenever I will see a bicycle parked on the side of a road I will look at this so common vehicle with much more respect, thinking about what cyclists can do with it at the price of a lot of struggle.

Coming back to the (few) hps of my engine, I have to admit once again that I do not have huge ambitions for the forthcoming race on the narrow French track. This is due, from one side to technical reasons, but most of all because present regulations do not favour at all our BMW. It is going to be a difficult race once again, but be careful, far be it from me to show prematurely the white flag: Valencia was meant to be a difficult weekend but I have been just two steps away from the big result. Anyway, if I had to bet a euro on me... I'd probably wait for the Brno round...
