SPYKER SQUADRON VALENCIA 4-HOUR REPORT
Valencia, 6 May 2007 -- After four hours of spectacular racing Spyker Squadron managed to move up the ladder and currently runs in 8th position. Spyker Squadron's sister car, the Speedy Racing Team Spyker C8 Spyder GT2R, is running in a 6th place.
So far the race is trouble-free for the Dutch manufacturer of highly exclusive cars although current conditions proof to be extremely tough for the tires. Peter van Erp: "We cannot go any faster than this. After about 70 percent in a stint, the tires lose their grip. For the drivers it really feels like driving on a slippery road; they need to be careful with braking and cornering and cannot trust on their normal levels of grip".
We have just seen the first safety car situation -- one of the cars leaked some liquids causing part of the track to become slippery. The situation was a bit confusing as it took the safety car no less than 4 laps to catch the overall leader and the Dutch team managed to win two positions.
Jarek Janis: "I am happier with the car now. We have less understeer and in the beginning of my last stint I was able to set some good lap times. Then I had a fight with one of the Porsche's but I could not pass as I wanted to avoid the risk of a collision. We have closed the gap somewhat with the teams running in front and will have to wait and see how the race commences".
