After a busy week at the Circuit de Catalunya, Barcelona, today was a quiet finish to the scheduled testing. Four teams with seven drivers took part and it was a largely trouble free day.

Antonio Pizzonia topped the time sheets for Williams, the only one of the team's drivers remaining. The Brazilian clocked a fastest of 1.19.470 over 74 laps and was testing new gearbox components. Second was Renault's Fernando Alonso in the B201, trying out 2002 spec software and brakes -- in one of the only incidents his car gave up at the entrance of the pit lane right at the end of the session. Jarno Trulli was third fastest behind his team's tester and was pleased with the overall performance of the R202.

Takuma Sato, despite having an off track excursion after suffering a broken axle, was fourth ahead of Giancarlo Fisichella in sixth for Jordan. Fisichella only completed 25 laps in the EJ12 spent a lot of time in the garage. Jaguar were present with Pedro de la Rosa in the old chassis and Eddie Irvine in the R3, the team still trying to sort out the problems they were experiencing with the new car. De de la Rosa stopped on track at one point but was fifth, faster than team mate Eddie Irvine by almost one and a half seconds. Irvine rounded off the bottom of the times -- Jaguar continue to test in Barcelona over the weekend.
