"I can't find the words to express my feelings after winning today and celebrating the victory on the podium in front of a huge crowd cheering us," said a glowing Rubens Barrichello after his win in Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro's home race. "If I could, I would have hugged all the fans! The crowd was cheering all the way to the first chicane. I am happy because this repays the fans for all their support."

Barrichello was impressed with the new podium built at the Monza track. "It is simply fantastic," said the Brazilian. "I had already seen it when I came for the Monza test last week and I thought at the time that it would be great to be on it, hopefully on the top step. Doing it is like a dream come true."

Rubens also wanted to thank the whole team. "I am proud of my mechanics, my engineers, the technicians and the entire team," commented Barrichello. "I am really happy because this win reminds me of the one at Hockenheim. It was not an easy race and I pushed to the maximum right up to the second pit stop. My strategy was risky and I did not know how it would work out. Going for one stop could have seen him stuck behind. I agreed this choice with Ross and I'm glad it paid off.

"I dedicate this win to my son, who will be one year old next week," concluded Barrichello. "This win makes me a bit more optimistic about taking second place in the Drivers's classification, but today I just want to think about the win and enjoy it fully."
