Brazilian GP / Free Practice April 09 1999 Chassis Numbers: Car No.9 - Giancarlo Fisichella - Mild Seven Benetton Playlife B199 04 Car No.10 - Alexander Wurz - Mild Seven Benetton Playlife B199 05

Giancarlo Fisichella finished 5th fastest and Alexander Wurz 11th after the first practice sessions for the 1999 Brazil Grand Prix on the Interlagos circuit. The first session took place on a wet circuit.

Giancarlo Fisichella : 5th - 1:20.309 "After the rain this morning we only had an hour on a dry track to work on the race set-up. I am particularly happy, not only because of my position, but because on the last laps I tried a different set-up which was just right. The car ran really well in the wet, so I am not too worried about the weather forecast for tomorrow!"

Alexander Wurz : 11th - 1:20.779 "As it was raining during the first session, we concentrated on the set-up for the wet. In the second session we had a better chance to work on the race set-up. It wasn't the easiest session because it started to rain at the end, but at least we managed to get in some dry running so we could gather some important information."

Pat Symonds, Technical Director: "It has been an interesting and productive day. Surprisingly it is the first time we have really run the car in the wet as our winter testing has been solely in dry conditions, so it is very satisfying to see the car running well in these conditions. When the circuit dried out it took us a little while to establish the balance for the race set-up, but overall we are quite content with the way the cars ran today."
