BRITISH GRAND PRIX - 10th July 1999 QUALIFYING
LUCA BADOER Chassis 01 21st 11 laps time: 1:28,695 "Considering yesterday's performance, I thought I could expect a little bit more from today but the track had changed and the temperature turned out higher. We couldn't detect the ideal set-up perhaps due to the changed conditions. In any case, I feel confident that tomorrow, we'll get some improvement in the race."
MARC GENE' Chassis 04 22nd 12 laps time: 1:28,772 "We did a troublefree work but, unfortunately, our competitiveness was lower compared to this morning. This might depend on the variation in the track temperature which was higher. Generally speaking, we are nonetheless, more competitive than last year: in fact, the other Teams' lap times figured out one second and a half slower than last year, whereas we posted our time half a second faster. Certainly this is not enough to be more competitive at a higher level. The new evolution engine represents definitely a step forward but this is not enough, we can still improve."
CESARE FIORIO: "The today's session was definitely far below our expectations if we consider the good lap times scored at last week test and in yesterday's free practice. The positive side is that the new Ford evolution engine seems to work very well. We'll use it in Austria where a fairly consistent aerodynamic package will make its debut."
