Jenson Button suffered a heavy crash in testing this morning but despite complaining of sore knees, the BAR driver appears not to be seriously hurt. Button lost control of his car at turn four of the Jerez circuit and it hit the wall side on. The chassis and suspension was heavily damaged and the car will be returned to the team's UK base.
Button reportedly did not need to go to the medical centre and bruised knees seem to be his only complaint. "I was coming through turn four which is quite a quick corner and I put a wheel on the grass, which caused the car immediately to snap out of control," he said. "It's a disappointing way to end the test but I'm really looking forward to Indianapolis."
It's been a bumpy time for some drivers lately -- Jordan's Ralf Firman returned to testing, at Silverstone, this week, the first time he got behind the wheel since his crash in practice at Hungary that prevented him from racing at Monza.
Ralf Schumacher's participation in the US Grand Prix is uncertain due to his crash in testing at Monza recently. Like Firman, the accident caused Schumacher to miss the Italian GP and although the German is set on racing at Indianapolis, it depends on his full recovery from lingering headaches.
Schumacher is not testing this week; teammate Juan Pablo Montoya and test driver Marc Gené are sharing duties at Silverstone. Button will return home in order to rest while teammate Jacques Villeneuve continues at Jerez.
