INCREASED GEARBOX PROTECTION FOR FERRARI IN FRANCE
Grease
*Ferrari will use new Shell Stamina SLO912 grease at the French Grand Prix
*The combination of a long straight leading into a hairpin and the high ambient temperatures in Magny Cours contributes to higher-than-average gearbox temperatures
*As car design becomes more optimised and vehicles become subject to increased thermal stress, Shell recognised a need to design a grease that is more thermally stable
*Most conventional grease remains stable up to 150°C, however new Shell Stamina SLO912 remains thermally stable at temperatures up to 210°C
Engine Lubricant
*Shell Helix SL907 will be retained for use in the France. It is well suited to the circuit's characteristics
*Magny Cours is not particularly hard on engines, although high ambient temperatures can cause engine and gearbox temperatures to rise, meaning the oil must dissipate much more heat in order to maintain optimal engine performance
Fuel
*Shell V-Power ULG60 will be retained for Magny Cours. The fuel was blended specifically to cope with the high speeds of Montreal and Indianapolis. Ferrari is expecting the fuel to come into its own down the long straight into the hairpin in France
