Hamilton feared reliability problems until the end
Lewis Hamilton admitted he was worried his car would fail again as he controlled the United States Grand Prix.
Hamilton dominated the Austin race from start to finish, like he had done in Malaysia last month, when he looked set for victory until his engine blew up.
On Sunday, however, there were no such problems for Hamilton, who secured his first win since the German Grand Prix in July.
But the world champion admitted he was nervous about reliability all the way to the end of the race.
"Today I felt comfortable doing the job," Hamilton said. "I was concerned the whole race the car would not make it, right to the line I was in fear of the same thing, that sound I heard in Malaysia...
"I'm so grateful the car made it across the line.
"He [Rosberg] is a lot more comfortable with the reliability, it is going well for him, so I have to continue to do my job and hope for the best."
Hamilton reduced the gap to Rosberg to 26 points with three races remaining, meaning the German does not need to win a race again to secure the title.
The Briton says he is not thinking about the championship, but just on doing his best all weekends.
"I just focus on doing the best job I can," he said. "I just focus on doing my job to the best of my ability.
"I just hope to do the better job in a weekend and hope to have more weekends like this, that will be great."
