Hungarian GP Saturday Williams notes

Ralf Schumacher and Jenson Button will start from 4th and 8th positions respectively for the 2000 Hungarian Grand Prix. Ralf today achieved his best qualifying position of the season.

Ralf Schumacher:
"I am very happy with the result, even positively surprised! We had put down the Hungaroring amongst the most difficult tracks for us. Our expectations were not at all high! A stronger engine and new aerodynamics bits on the car have helped a lot. I am pleased to start from the second row."

Jenson Button:
"The team did a great job here today. The weather has been very hot indeed, but I'm happy with the car. My learning curve has increased since yesterday as this is a very technical circuit, very twisty and not easy to memorise. It has a couple of 180° turns where you cannot see the apex clearly. I am, however, very pleased with our team performance and obviously pleased for Ralf who did a great job." Patrick Head:
"It's a great grid position for Ralf to be in amongst the two top teams at the moment and the car has generally been good here all weekend. We are obviously hoping for a good race. For Jenson to only have qualified a few tenths behind Ralf in the top ten on his first ever visit to this circuit is very impressive and continues his run of strong performances this year. I'd also like to say that BMW has done a fantastic job and we must capitalise on this and ensure points from tomorrow's race."

Dr Mario Theissen:
"This was the strongest qualifying result so far with regard to both the chassis and the engine. Having reached satisfaction with the reliability of the BMW V10, we have now focused on power. On the straights we can now compete with the likes of both Ferrari and McLaren-Mercedes - something which we obviously want more of."
