Nick Heidfeld and Giorgio Pantano began a two-day, two-car test session at Silverstone this week in warm, dry and sunny conditions with seven other teams in attendance at the Northamptonshire track located next to Jordan's factory.

The test demands great logistical precision from the team as it comes after two 'back to back' races a week apart in Monaco and Germany, and precedes all the team's equipment being packed up for air freighting to Canada for a second 'back-to-back' Grand Prix stint with two races a week apart in Montreal and Indianapolis.

After a mainly wet day yesterday, Jordan began its test programme in good weather conditions and the drivers completed a combined total of 142 laps of useful testing work.

Nick Heidfeld:

"It was a good day with very fine weather. In the morning we had a couple of unscheduled changes to rectify a small steering problem. But we got through our programme of set-up work in the morning and then concentrating on tyre tests for forthcoming races in the afternoon. We got some important data and results. At the end I was on a quick lap and unfortunately there was a red flag stopping the session but that is not unusual when there are so many teams testing."

Dominic Harlow, Giorgio Pantano's race engineer:

"We carried out Bridgestone tyre testing in preparation for the race at Silverstone next month and also did some work for various aero parts for Canada and that was very positive for data gathering. We stopped early with a gearbox problem but other than that it was a productive day."
