Tiago ready for the Monza fans

Tiago Monteiro arrives at the historic Monza circuit, near Milan, to contest the 2006 Italian Grand Prix, round 15 of the Formula One World Championship. The Italian Grand Prix has been on the calendar year since the start of the Formula One World Championship in 1950.

Tiago goes to the Italian GP straight from a three-day test at the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza after the Turkey Grand Prix contributing to the preparation program of the Grand Prix.

"The fact that we have all been driving here a week before the race means during the weekend we can concentrate on fine-tuning the car rather than spending time on acclimatizing to the high speed track."

"With the team Midland, we carried out almost 1400km of mileage with the M 16-01 equipped with a Toyota RVX-06 G085 engine and I am the driver who drove the most completing 100 laps and 577 kilometers on the track. I recorded the fastest lap time of 1:23.85 for our team," Monteiro said.

"The Monza test last week went very well, even better than we expected. We spent three days testing the new car without any problems. Toyota RVX-06 G085. It was very productive and to prepare the GP we went through a lot of test items and the program included tires, aerodynamic components, brakes and set-up testing."

"Our improvements can be translated directly into improved lap times and I am confident that we will be continuing our trend of increasing competitiveness at the race here next weekend."

"I am looking forward to racing it at Monza although it is a very tricky and high speed track but overtaking is possible. It will be very important to have a good car balance in the braking zones because of the low downforces which require different techniques, set-ups and aero package exclusively for this race."

"The track is fast and demanding on brakes with high kerbs and you must be very focused on your race. My favorite turn is Ascari where you can be in fourth and even fifth at the exit of the turn."
