Perez gets engine boost for Austrian GP
Sergio Perez believes the upgraded Mercedes engine he will have for this weekend's Austrian Grand Prix will be a boost to his chances.
The Mexican driver will use his second internal combustion engine of the year, having run the same power unit in the first seven races of the season.
Perez believes the nature of the Red Bull Ring, where engine power is highly rewarded, makes the change optimal for him.
"It's an upgraded one. I think it's a good place to have a new engine," said Perez on Thursday.
"This track is quite important the engine, so hopefully it can give us a good boost and we can be in a better position.
"I expect to have a little bit of a gain with the new engine. So hopefully we can be in a better position. It's a good place to have a new engine."
The Austrian Grand Prix will mark the last race Force India races with the current car before introducing the B-spec machine at Silverstone in two weeks' time.
Perez is hopeful the upgraded car will mean the start of a different chapter for Force India in the remaining part of the season.
"We are going to have it for Silverstone," Perez added. "We have been doing some testing with some of the parts but the main update will come to Silverstone, so it's very good news.
"So hopefully we can score points this weekend and then aim for a much better second half of the year with the upgraded car."
