It's widely presumed that this year the top three teams will be Ferrari, McLaren and Willimas and while this may be so, the battle for who will be the leaders of the mid-field is anyone's guess. Jordan, until recently one of the best of the rest, were beaten last year in the Constructors' standings by Sauber which no-one really expected.
BAR, Arrows and Benetton -- now Renault -- have all had a fair crack at the whip in the midfield but this season Renault UK's Technical Director Mike Gascoyne thinks they will be to the forefront. Gascoyne believes Renault can give Sauber a run for their money and keep Jordan and BAR behind them.
"We were quicker than Sauber when they tested (in Barcelona), so there is no reason why we cannot be up there with them in qualifying. Our target is to finish in the points." He said. "I see the situation that there will be the top three teams, then Sauber and ourselves, and then the rest."
