Circuit de Valencia, Wednesday, 03 April 2002

Team Sauber Petronas continued to test here today, and Nick Heidfeld's wishes for better weather came true. Compared to Tuesday, the track here today was dry, and the Team was able to pursue its planned program of testing to prepare for the San Marino Grand Prix at Imola (Italy) on Sunday, April 14.

Driving the Sauber C21, Nick Heidfeld set a time of 1m14.826s covering 87 laps. Sauber Petronas' Felipe Massa will take over testing the Sauber C21 here on Thursday, April 4.

Giampaolo Dall'Ara (Head of Test Team):

"Today's session went very well and we were able to implement our planned testing program. We concentrated on optimizing our control systems, including launch control. With Nick, we also tested hydraulic differentials on the Sauber C21, as well as brake cooling systems. Since yesterday's rain has stopped, we also were able to conduct dry tyre tests."

Nick Heidfeld:

"The weather has improved, which is good, since it means that over the two days we have been able to test under wet and dry conditions. Added to aerodynamic work that we did yesterday, today's work session has helped pave the way for Felipe to put the Sauber C21 through its final day of testing here tomorrow."

Weather: Dry, sunny and partly cloudy
Temperature: Track 230; Air 170
Distance: 87 laps, 348.435 kms
Track Length: 4.005 kilometres
