INDIANAPOLIS, Thursday, Oct. 5, 2000 -- The second annual SAP United States Grand Prix will take place on Sept. 30, 2001, at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, according to the final 2001 Formula One World Championship schedule released by the FIA.

The 17-race season starts March 3 in Australia and ends with races in Indianapolis on Sept. 30 and Japan on Oct. 14.

A three-week summer break has been built into the schedule between the races in Germany on July 29 and Hungary on Aug. 19, and all testing is banned during this time.

In other changes, the British Grand Prix has been returned to its traditional mid-July date, and the Austrian Grand Prix will take place in mid-May. The Malaysian Grand Prix will move from the last race of the season to the second race of the year.
