With many teams in Britain testing at Silverstone, Valencia was fairly quiet today. BMW Williams and McLaren both had one driver and one test driver present, McLaren tester Alex Wurz topping the time sheets with a 1.12.569. Making it a one-two for the team David Coulthard was second fastest although almost a second off Wurz.
Juan Pablo Montoya was the faster of the Williams in third, a fraction behind Coulthard and fourth place man was tester Marc Gene.
"The objective of today was to run the FW24 to evaluate brake and aero components," Williams Race Engineer Tim Preston. "It looks like we've made a positive step forward but the test was delayed after JPM had a minor 'off'. Both cars will be prepared tonight for endurance runs tomorrow."
