The BMW WilliamsF1 Team concluded a double session of four-day tests at the Monza and Valencia circuits in Italy and Spain today ahead of the forthcoming French Grand Prix. The tests were conducted by test driver Antonio Pizzonia and official test and reserve driver, Marc Gené.

Ralf Schumacher and Marc Gené will be joining the BMW WilliamsF1 Team at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend in England.

Sam Michael (Chief Operations Engineer, WilliamsF1):

"At Monza we tested tyres, brakes, suspension set-ups and of course development engines. We have found a good direction in all areas and will be well prepared for the next Monza test in September. Antonio has driven all four days which has helped us to get through a tight test program efficiently."

"A productive test at Valencia this week, concentrating on all aspects of the car before the test ban. Majority of the testing was focussed towards tyre compound evaluation for Michelin, traction control, mechanical set-up items and some aero testing. Marc has driven for all four days and has done a good job for us again."

Mario Theissen (BMW Motorsport Director):

"We now have an intense testing programme behind us with simultaneous tests at Valencia and Monza in the last week. In Monza the focus was on preparations for the forthcoming Grand Prix in Magny-Cours and the Monza race in September. In Valencia we have mainly worked on Budapest preparations. At each test we were covering tyre testing and the car's set-up improvements. Regarding the engine we optimised the set-up, with traction control and launch control. We also did some endurance tests with regards on the reliability. We are pleased with the good mileage that we have achieved from both tests. We are very satisfied with the results and confident for the race at Magny-Cours."
