Winning most important for Button

Jenson Button would rather be paid less at a top team than be at the back of the grid because winning is more important than the money. Button, who is speculated to be replaced by Fernando Alonso at Renault next year, has been talking to other teams but being competitive is his goal rather than a big salary.

"Everyone, when you look at the job, you look at the money but then you have to look at the enjoyment you get out of it as well," Button said to Sporting Life. "Being with a top team and getting paid very little compared to a team at the back of the grid, I would go for that because I want to win races. That's the most important thing."

Button has been linked with Jaguar amongst other teams and insists he is not worried about his future. All he's concerned about at the moment is his upcoming home race at the British Grand Prix next weekend, where he'd like to get on the podium for the first time.

"All these rumours won't affect me," he said. "I have got no problem with them at all. It's not a distraction, it's enjoyable and quite good fun because it is all speculation. I am not worried about where I am going to be next year because I think I will be with a competitive team. I am not in the worst position in F1 as a driver."

"I have got options for next season. You are going to talk to everyone finding out what their car is going to be like, what they have got in the background, what people they are getting on board. You have got to look around. But there will be no serious discussions until after Silverstone. We will know more in two weeks' time what my options are and then we will take it from there."

"All I am doing is looking forward to Silverstone - big time. It's my favourite grand prix and good to have the supporters behind me. It would be great to get that first podium at Silverstone. I don't think we will be quick enough to qualify third or fourth on the grid but we really need to be as close as we can and then see what happens in the race."
