Vietoris secures the World Final pole

Christian Vietoris held his edge, holding nothing back to secure the Formula BMW World Final pole position this morning in Valencia, Spain.

The 2006 F-BMW Germany champion has been on top of the speed charts in all sessions but one since the first round of qualifying on Friday. He won two heat races yesterday, making him the hands-down favorite to take the 2006 World Final competition pole.

He easily took the victory in the sixth and final qualifying heat -- a margin of 6.1 seconds over EuroInternational's Stefano Coletti on the Circuito de la Comunidad Valenciana.

Joining him on the front row will be his fellow team driver, Josef Kral. The Czech racer scored Heat five victory, adding to his win from Saturday.

The 2006 sub-champion in this year's F-BMW Germany series slotted third on the grid. Mika Maki has been on the top of the charts with his two fellow competitors since Friday. Now the three will take on the goal of winning the 2006 World Final event.

Giving the F-BMW Germany series the top four on this year's World Final starting grid was Coletti who slotted fourth for today's race. Euan Hankey, the 2006 F-BMW UK champion, slotted fifth in his Fortec Motorsport machine.

Thirty-six of the top F-BMW racers worldwide will aim to win the main prize this afternoon: A test drive in the BMW Sauber Formula One car.
