Nurburgring: Who will be next?

The GP3 Series drivers have had great battles and the question is who will take the victories this weekend at Germany's Nurburgring.

Six races down, six different winners. The 2013 GP3 Series has got off to an enthralling start as we approach the midway point of the season with Round 4 in Nurburgring, Germany,

Round 3 in Silverstone saw ART Grand Prix rookie Jack Harvey taking a home win – his first in the Series after beating pole-man Kevin Korjus (Koiranen GP) away from the line of Race 1. The Estonian finished second in front of Harvey’s teammate Facu Regalia.

Race 2 saw Trident’s Giovanni Venturini start from reverse pole. A fabulous battle at the front between the Italian and Carlin’s Nick Yelloly kept the fans on the edge of their seats until the chequered flag. The day belonged to Italy with Venturini and Trident both pocketing their first wins’ in the category. Yelloly and Alex Fontana (Jenzer Motorsport) both produced their best results in the Series with second and third.

Tio Ellinas (Marussia Manor Racing) holds a 10 point lead in the Drivers’ Standings showing consistency is key as the Cypriot is the only driver to have scored in all six races. Ellinas is on 69, Korjus 59, Conor Daly 51, Aaro Vainio 44 and Jack Harvey 42. ART Grand Prix lead the Team Standings with 134, Koiranen GP are on 103 and MW Arden on 85.

There is one change to the grid of 27 drivers former GP3 driver Alexander Sims stepping in to replace Status Grand Prix’s Adderly Fong for this round.

GP3 Series haven’t raced at the Nurburgring since 2011 with the calendar alternating between this 5.148km circuit and the Hockenheim. The weather here in the Eifel Mountains is notoriously unpredictable with showers expected this weekend. Will we see a seventh different winner or will somebody pull out all the stops as the chase for the GP3 crown rises another notch?

Pirelli will use the Medium compound this weekend.
