Mark Kinser Tops "Dave Bradway, Jr., Memorial" Fall Poll
KNOXVILLE, IOWA (SEPT. 13, 2001) - Mark Kinser of Oolitic, Ind., has retained his number one ranking in the National 410- cubic-inch Sprint Car Poll according to the "Dave Bradway, Jr., Memorial" Fall rankings as voted by the select voting panel of manufacturers, media members, promoters and sanctioning officials. Kinser, pilot of his dad's Mopar-sponsored sprinter, earned sixteen (16) of the thirty (30) first-place ballots cast. Mark, who won last weekend's Gold Cup Race of Champions in Chico, Calif., currently leads the Pennzoil World of Outlaws (WoO) Series point standings.
Danny Lasoski, who won the mid-August Amoco Ultimate Knoxville National Sprint Car Championships, earned nine (9) first place votes. The Higginsville, Mo., racer, who pilots the Hamm America-sponsored sprinter, is battling Mark Kinser for the WoO point title. Defending National 410 Sprint Car Poll "Driver of the Year" Steve Kinser of Bloomington, Ind., edged Nationals star Donny Schatz of Minot, N.D., for third place in the poll, each with two (2) first place votes. Stevie Smith of New Oxford, Penna., beat Jeff Shepard of Upperco, Md., for fifth spot. Shepard earned one (1) first place vote.
Andy Hillenburg of Oklahoma is ranked seventh, followed by Craig Dollansky of Minnesota, central Pennsylvania hotshoe Lance Dewease, and Knoxville Raceway track champion Terry McCarl of Iowa. Hillenburg and Dollansky, like the top six drivers, are regulars with Ted Johnson's tough coast-to-coast WoO tour.
The National 410 Sprint Car Poll is an official awards program of the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum Foundation, Inc. Other polls include the National 360 Sprint Car Poll, the National Non-Winged Sprint Car Poll, and the Australian National Sprintcar Poll. The Fall poll is dedicated to the memory of Dave Bradway, Jr., a Roseville, Calif., sprint car racer who lost his life in the late 1980's at Skagit Speedway in Washington.
