Porsche-Pirelli-SuperCup - Sixth Round at the Grand Prix of Hungary -------------------------------------------------------------------

Frenchman Dominique Dupuy Winner and Seies Leader

With a narrow margin 39-year-old Frenchman Dominique Dupupy (DDO) snatched victory at the sixth round of the Porsche-Pirelli-SuperCup on the Hungaroring near Budapest. After 16 laps on the 3.968 km circuit the double French Carrera Cup champion crossed the finish line 0.894 seconds ahead of Dutchman Patrick Huisman (Manthey Racing). With his first win of the season Dupuy moves to the head of the points table. Said the Parisiene: "I was under tremedous pressure from Patrick Huisman over the first seven laps, but then I managed to pull ahead slightly. However,I had to remain totally concentrated throughout the entire race.

Patrick Huisman remarked: "In the tumult of the start I was able to leap from fifth to front. By chasing Dominique I pushed my brakes and tyres to the limit, and so by half way I had to back off a bit."

Third place went to architecture student Patrick Simon from Germany (Oberbayern Motorsport). The 22-year-old came to the start suffering from a back injury. "It was incredible painful. Sometimes I had to release my safety belt a bit just to breathe easier. If I hadn't been running third I would have retired.

Germany's Horst Farnbacher (Zepter Racing-Farnbacher) needed a lot of luck for today's race. During the turbolent start his Porsche was nearly sidelined when Oliver Mathai (Walker Gillet-Manthey Racing) shot across the field, and finished his race up against the pit wall. Mathai brushed Farnbacher's car, however Farnbacher was able to continue a commendable fourth. Fifth place went to Porsche old-hand and former Porsche-Pirelli- SuperCup champion Jean-Pierre Malcher (F, Oberbayern Motorsport). With sixth place 27-year-old Andrej Kulundzic from Belgrade (YU) gave his finest performance to date this season, delighting numerous repre- sentatives of his home press. Two Porsche specialists secured places eight and nine. Gerhard Muller from Germany (Farnbacher Motorsport) pipped fellow countryman Harald Grohs (Manthey Racing) at the post.

RTL-VIP driver Judit Forro from Hungary experienced a turbulent race. Driving the RTL-VIP Carrera the 21-year-old spun dramatically twice but nevertheless finished the race 21st. Second RTL-VIP driver, Krzysztof Holowczyc from Poland,current leader of the European Rally Championship, also spun in his 911 but finished 20th. In a field of international Porsche specialists 18-yesr-old Marc Basseng from Germany (UPS Porsche- Junior Team) demonstrated a fine form crossing the finish line seventh. His team mate Dirk Muller also finished successfully in tenth.
