Guy Cosmo returned to the US racing scene from his standout rookie performance in the Scandinavian Formula 2000 Championship by posting a top-five finish in the Star Mazda Pro Series opener at Texas Motor Speedway, March 4.
Cosmo started from 9th on the grid in the Racers Edge Motorsports Formula Mazda car. After being forced to bypass the turn one chicane, Guy slipped to 12th, but recovered for his strong 5th place finish.
Guy Cosmo landed the much sought after ride after distinguishing himself in a CART Toyota Atlantic test with Michael Shank Racing. Based on that performance, Jon Mirachi (mir-ah-kee) snapped up the young talent to pilot one of his cars.
"The Racers Edge Motorsports team has to be one of the most professional yet personable teams around," said 23 year old Cosmo. "We have incredible chemistry and they have really bent over backwards to bring this program together. I am happy and thankful for that."
The Long Island based driver spent 10 months in Denmark as the Mygale works development driver in the Scandinavian Formula 2000 series. While there, he scored two poles, two wins, and 14 top-five finishes on his way to a 2nd place in the talent rich Scandinavian open-wheel series.
In 1999, Guy Cosmo distinguished himself as one of the hottest young drivers in the US when he won the USF2000 American Continental Championship, notching five victories in the process. Guy will contest at Sebring in the Star Mazda race for Racers Edge Motorsports, with plans pending to run the complete season with them.
