Saturday morning at Talladega Superspeedway came with an onslaught of heavy rain showers, causing immediate delays to the already crowded Saturday schedule.
The Winston Cup morning practice has been delayed, but there is, as of yet, no official word yet on possible cancelation.
NASCAR officials are watching the weather radar patterns before making an official announcement on today's altered schedule. Winston Cup Series was to have two practice sessions today, the 10:30 AM EST one, and the still scheduled "Happy Hour" final practice shortly after noon EST.
The Busch Series race is scheduled to start at 2:00 PM, with live television coverage, and is the one item for the day that NASCAR would like to ensure gets under way on schedule. Joe Nemechek is on pole for th Busch Series race, with Kasey Kahne alongside him on the front row.
The IROC race, due to be held later in the day, is also in jeopardy with the continued rain.
UPDATE: 12:30pm -- Officials have canceled the 10:30am morning practice session for the Winston Cup cars. The rain has let up, the track has been dried and Happy Hour will start at 1:00pm.
The Busch Series race is still scheduled to take the green flat at 2:00pm.
