DAVID REUTIMANN,
No. 44 UPS Toyota Camry, Michael Waltrip Racing
Starting Position: 2nd
Were you surprised by your qualifying effort?
"It was a good lap. It was just a little free, but actually better than I thought it would be. I had to pedal it pretty hard coming off of turn two because I got back to the gas pretty quick and it shoved the front end a little bit. All in all, it ended up being a pretty good lap. It gave us a good pit selection and good starting position. It was by far the best starting position I've ever had here, so I'm pretty excited about that."
How do you think your car will handle in the race tomorrow night?
"Qualifying is one thing, but the race is another. We still have some work to do for the race. I feel like we're decent, we just have to get it to be more consistent. We fought being tight, then a little loose, and then tight again. We need to hit somewhere around the middle to see if we can find a sweet spot, and find out what the car wants. If we can do that, then we should be in good shape. Track position is pretty important at this place -- it's not an easy place to pass on. Track position is important anywhere you go anymore, and hopefully this qualifying effort will get us started on the right foot. I think we should have a pretty good car."
